K.J. Matthews is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and producer who has worked in the TV and entertainment industry for nearly two decades. She started her career as a TV reporter and news producer working for CBS, ABC, and FOX-TV affiliates nationwide for a number of years.

After leaving local television, she moved up to CNN. There she covered the media and entertainment industry for a decade. Her work appeared on CNN, CNN International, HLN and CNN digital. K.J. was a major force in the development and overall entertainment coverage including the network’s Oscar Awards, Grammy Awards and Golden Globes coverage. She wrote and produced for AC 360, The Situation Room, New Day, CNN Tonight with Don Lemon, Erin Burnett OutFront, CNN Newsroom and Morning Express with Robin Meade. One of her highlights at CNN was working on the the award-winning primetime special, CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute and winning a Peabody Award.

Besides her local and national TV and digital experience, she’s also worked on the Emmy award-winning syndicated entertainment show, Extra TV Show.

Currently she’s a senior contributor to BBC World Service Radio, BBC World News TV, BBC 5 Radio Live, Germany’s DW English TV Network, and Australia’s ABC Network’s morning show, Breakfast where she offers her expertise on the latest in the media and entertainment industry.

K.J. is also a Los Angeles native who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree

from UCLA and a Master of Arts degree from New York University in broadcast journalism.

Her communication and leadership skills also keep her busy as a public speaker. She’s spoken to audiences at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, the Producers Guild of America, the Turner Classic Movie Network, Digital Hollywood Media + Tech Summit, the USC Annenberg School, Emerson College, Women in Travel Summit, Away Travel event, the Miami Film Festival, Paramount Studios, the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, and the African-American Film Critics Association.
