donalee is a professional writer and freelance journalist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her byline has appeared in more than 100 publications throughout North America and beyond. This includes Canadian Business, Chatelaine, Maclean’s, The Lawyers Weekly, The Globe and Mail, and The National Post.

Her first mystery novel Hung Out To Die was published in early 2023. Based in Nova Scotia, it introduces a new, reluctant crime fighter: Riel Brava. Attractive. Razor-sharp. Ambitious. And something more.

Her second novel was published in late 2023. Conflagration is a historical mystery based on the true story of Marie-Joseph Angélique — an enslaved Black woman accused of arson in 1734 Montreal.

Her non-fiction book about effective communications, The Thong Principle: Saying What You Mean and Meaning What You Say, was published in May 2022.

Her short story Swan Song was one of 21 selected for publication in Cold Canadian Crime, an anthology published by the Crime Writers of Canada. Her second short story featuring Iqaluit-based chief of police Doug Brumal, called Troubled Water, was published in the 75th issue of Black Cat and in the 17th issue of Mystery, Crime, and Mayhem.
