Dr. Mary-Elaine Jacobsen

Mary Jacobsen, Psy.D. is Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychological Science at Salem College in North Carolina, USA. She previously served as Chief Psychologist for a major child guidance foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota where she developed the first multi-culturally fair testing center in the greater metropolitan area. Her ongoing research focuses on high ability studies, exceptional talent, high-performance in organizations, performance-supportive corporate culture, and identifying barriers to innovation and success. She is editor for the MENSA Research Journal and contributing editor for the Roeper Review. In recent years she developed an initiative to bring together cutting-edge scientists in a public forum designed to promote pioneering advancements, “Leading Innovation: Inventing the Future with Science”.

Dr. Jacobsen is also the founder and managing partner of Talent Psychology Consulting International (TPC), since 2005. Through her talent consultancy, she provides specialized talent advice, program development and training, evidence-based methods of assessment, strategic hiring practices, talent development and retention. Beyond the US, she provides professional services to leaders of global organizations in the UK, Europe, Africa, New Zealand, as well a individual distance consultations with gifted adults. Her invited chapters appear in several edited books, including: Giftedness and Talent in the 21st Century: Adapting to the Turbulence of Globalization; Creative Intelligence in the 21st Century; and  Morality, Ethics, and Gifted Minds (all available on Amazon.com).
