Forensic geneticist Brynja Pálsdóttir mines Iceland’s controversial DNA database to solve the mystery of her twin Lúkas’s disappearance. To succeed, she must unravel cryptic clues in a series of poems derived from a 14th century manuscript of Icelandic sagas. Each of the poems arrives as an anonymous note along with a gift of food and, one by one, the recipients fall ill and die: the manuscript guard, the prime minister’s secretary, the local pastor. One of the poems holds clues to Lukas’s whereabouts; the others contain dire warnings against searching for him. Plagued by visual auras that threaten both her personal and professional relationships, Brynja must nonetheless summon the strength to navigate the twisted labyrinth of the poet’s mind and confront the dark secret buried in her family’s past.

DOUBLE BLIND is a 86,000 word mystery thriller in the tradition of Sara Blaedel and Stieg Larsson that traverses the cultural landscape of Iceland, from rural farmsteads to the high-tech world of DNA forensics.
