Description

Boston 1798. John Yonder has a unique law practice. He provides counsel to his fellow countrymen, the Fae. He and his partner, Captain Far, have been banished to our dreary world of Doldrums for having committed a terrible impropriety against a queen. But when a lady from the queen’s court calls upon Yonder at his law office, he thinks he may have found the perfect chance to return home. The lady’s case seems simple enough. A former lover by the name of Wylde is traveling through Doldrums. Find him, fetch the lock of her hair that he carries, and she will lend her influence to secure Yonder and Far’s pardon . But finding Wylde proves to be a daunting task. With the begrudging help of a fortuneteller named Mary, their chase takes them across Boston, down the Atlantic coast, and at last, to a slave market in Virginia. There, Yonder, Far, and Mary come to learn that the man they were chasing, the lock of hair he carries, and the client who hired them are not at all what they seem.
