Thousands of Polish military officers, policemen, and intelligentsia are murdered in 1940. In April 1943, eight large mass graves uncovered in the Katyn Forest, in the Soviet Union, reveal a monstrous atrocity. August 1945 The war in Europe is over. An American lawyer, Lt. Colonel Doug Walters, is a prosecution team investigator building war crimes cases against the Nazis at the Nuremberg Trials. He is dragged into a mysterious and deadly investigation, chasing evidence across occupied Germany and searching for an elusive Polish massacre witness. For Walters, the truth never takes sides, no matter where it leads. He becomes a pawn in a global political game where the post-war alliance between the Soviets, Americans, and British – already strained – hangs in the balance.
