Coach Townsend and a band of coaches helped turn a sleepy baseball region into a baseball heaven as a wave of homegrown stars took baseball by storm for decades. Michael Cuddyer, David Wright, Ryan Zimmerman, B.J. Upton, Justin Upton, and Mark Reynolds racked up All-Star games, Major League records and played the game in the throwback style of TownyBall. Exclusive first-hand interviews with all the players of the Splendid 6, coaches, parents, family and friends to revisit this historic group of baseball history for the first time in decades. Towny Townsend was a first-round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox, and drafted in the MLB draft for times. Townsend was released from his baseball contract for standing up to racism. Towny Townsend fought and ultimately died of cancer, but not before holding on to see the players all make their MLB Debut.
