Description

PICTURES OF ANNA is based on and inspired by a true story and series of historical events. Set in the spring of 1940, it has as its background a subject which has never before been covered in popular fiction (not until my novel was released that is) – not in literary form, nor for that matter in cinema – namely the internment of enemy aliens in the UK during the second world war. It is one girl’s quest to find freedom and peace in the cruelest of worlds and it manages to subvert one or two of the usual clichéd perceptions of the time and shines a light on issues in both British and German history which some people have preferred to remain hidden. Anna Vieti’s story was fascinating to research and deserved to be told, and has an important point to make. It also provides a way of looking at our present through a window to our past. Sadly, its message still resonates strongly today as our tragic European history begins to repeat itself. Pictures Of Anna is also a movie project.
