‘Nine Days: Living With My Soul Wide Open After Violent Trauma’ is a memoir by Michelle Renee, published in 2023. Nine Days is about the author’s solo journey over 4,000 miles to return to her daughter in Eagle River, Alaska. This nine-day road trip up the coast of the western United States from San Diego, continuing through the open tundra of the massive Yukon on the rugged AL-Can Highway, is the backdrop to what thrust Michelle into healing her past and living with her soul wide open. After surviving a violent home invasion kidnapping, hostage, and bank robbery scheme carried out by gang members, against her and her young daughter, Michelle seeks to discover a way to heal from deep personal childhood pain, and loss and is determined to parent her only child through and beyond the effects of violent trauma. This raw, vulnerable, personal journey touches upon themes of self-discovery, resilience, the transformative power of nature, forgiveness, and the power of love.
