The Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society, known as LASFS, was founded Oct. 27, 1934. It is the world’s oldest continuously active science-fiction and fantasy club. LASFS is composed of professional writers, aspiring writers, fans of genre literature, media, gaming and more. Notable members include Larry Niven, Ray Bradbury, Forrest J Ackerman, David Gerrold, Steven Barnes, and far too many to list here. Our unofficial motto, “Death Will Not Release You”.
LASFS hosts weekly meetings at their clubhouse at 8819 Reseda Blvd, Northridge California on Thursday evenings. Doors open at 7pm, meeting starts at 8pm. There is a nominal membership fee and weekly dues. You can attend up to 3 meetings before you are asked to join the club.
The club maintains the largest privately owned lending library of Science Fiction and Fantasy in the world, with over 28,000 volumes. In addition to the library, the club hosts a weekly gaming night on Friday evening and an afternoon social on the Second Sunday for dues paying members. LASFS will be hosting additional events and the space can be rented for private events.
