William Holst was born and raised in Seattle and is the president of the Hovhaness-Fujihara Music Company. He is the music promoter and distributor of one of the most prolific classical composers of the 20th century, Alan Hovhaness. William has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and worked as an Avionics Systems Engineer for 38 years, when he retired in August of 2024. He is also the inventor of two vehicle communication related patents. William has written many technical documents throughout his career, however, co-authoring Alan Hovhaness: Unveiling One of the Great Composers of the 20th Century is his first non-fiction book.
Since managing the Hovhaness-Fujihara Music Company, William has discovered the unparalleled contribution that Hovhaness has made to the classical music world. Additionally, he has discovered that there is much more to Hovhaness than just music compositions, Hovhaness’ studies of Armenian, Indian, Japanese and Korean ancient cultures has labeled him the second most interesting man.
