Leslie Lehr is a private Book Consultant, the Novel Consultant for Truby’s Writers’ Studio and a Developmental Editor known for her “Xray Vision” in story structure.  A popular instructor and speaker, Lehr taught at the Writers Program at UCLA for over a decade, and speaks at conferences around the country including Story Expo, Writers Guild of America, and the International Screenwriters Association. She serves as a judge for the Women’s Fiction Writers Association annual “Rising Star” competition.

Lehr is also the prize-winning author of A Boob’s Life: How America’s Obsession Shaped Me… and You, the pop-culture memoir called a “must-read” by Good Morning America, “Best New Books” by People Magazine and Glamour, a 2023 National Women’s Book Association’s “Great Group Read” with raves from Publisher’s Weekly and Kirkus, and optioned by HBOMax Comedy with producer Salma Hayek the same week it hit #1 in Feminist Literature on Amazon. Entertainment Tonight called her a “trailblazing woman changing the world.”

Lehr’s novels include the thriller What a Mother Knows, a Target Recommended Read, the comedy Wife Goes On and the drama 66 Laps, winner of the Pirates Alley Faulkner Prize. Her nonfiction includes Welcome to Club Mom, The Happy Helpful Grandma Guide, excerpted on FisherPrice.com, and Nesting, featured on Oprah.

Lehr’s essays appear in the New York Times Modern Love (narrated by Katie Couric on NPR), Time Magazine, Newsweek, Writers Digest, and anthologies such as Mommy Wars, The Honeymoon’s Over, Write On, at Yourtango.com and Huffpost.com. Lehr sold the original screenplays “Club Divorce” and “Heartless,” an independent film that financed five other films for Santa Monica Pictures, aired on USA-TV for three years and screened internationally for eight more. Lehr won a student Emmy while USC School of Cinematic Arts and has an MFA from Antioch University.

A breast cancer survivor, Lehr is an activist for woman’s health and is a member of Women in Film, PEN, The Authors Guild, and The Women’s Leadership Council of L.A. Lehr has two daughters, two cats, and lives with her husband in Southern California.
