Say It Loud! Readers and Writers is a literary arts organization developed to support educational institutions and community based organizations design and incorporate innovative literary arts projects and programs. The greatest investment in children begins quite early with literacy. We access the imaginations of young people with literary invitations to poetry, narrative, prose, and rap. Vision board activities are used to teach young people the power of visualizing dreams and planning for their life goals as early as possible.
Founded in 1997, our goal was to work with educators and administrators to decrease the literacy achievement gap that hinders African American students in colleges, universities and public schools academically and socially–a hindrance that weighs down educators and administrators, particularly in academically distressed public schools. Say It Loud! empowers students to articulate dreams in pictures, poetry, and prose. We work in cooperation with communities and educational organizations equally invested in equal educational, social, and career opportunities for students.
