Description
Artist Margaret Talbot has fought her way into the male dominated world of publishing in the late 19th century to become a magazine illustrator. In 1901, She suffers a life changing crisis and comes to a small fishing village where she meets many people. An older woman becomes a friend and mentor. Another woman accuse Margaret of being a witch and burning down the local hotel with black magic. A mad investor tries to turn sea gulls into intercontinental carrier pigeons with magnets. In a fisherman’s house, Margaret encounters Sara Grant who skips, sings nonsense songs and has trouble understanding everyday life. She fears that Sara suffered a childhood trauma but some in the village say that Sara is a selkie, a magical being from Celtic mythology who walks on the land as a human and swims in the sea as a seal. With the influence of the villagers. and her own self-determination, Margret strives to discover who she is and what she truly wants.
