After Pearl

After Pearl is a detective novel written in the same spirit as Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, and Mickey Spillane. Set in 1942, alcoholic PI Nicholas Bishop has lost his car, five days of his life, and two bullets fired from his .38. A missing lounge singer was last seen with him, and he worries those two missing slugs are lodged in her body which is crammed in the trunk of his missing Packard. While Bishop searches for the singer, he also investigates an adultery case, and possible Nazi activity. All three cases intertwine as Bishop battles his alcoholism.
